Mink – TikTok Trust Scanner
Effective date: August 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Mink TikTok Trust Scanner Chrome extension (“Mink,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the extension.
1. Mink’s single purpose
Mink helps you understand how genuine the engagement appears on the TikTok video currently open in your browser. It analyzes comments and visible engagement signals, classifies suspicious patterns, and displays a risk verdict in a Chrome side panel. Mink may flag suspected bot or engagement-pod comments, spam, repeated commenting by the same accounts, comment flooding, and unusual engagement ratios.
Mink does not crawl TikTok, automatically browse unrelated videos or profiles, require a Mink account, or inspect unrelated websites.
2. Information Mink handles
To provide its user-facing analysis, Mink may process the following information from the TikTok page you currently have open:
- Public comment text and associated public usernames or profile identifiers.
- Publicly displayed video and engagement information, such as view, like, comment, and share counts when available.
- Page context needed to identify the active video and update the analysis as additional comments load.
- Your extension preferences, such as interface or analysis settings.
Mink does not request or collect your TikTok password, authentication cookies, payment information, health information, precise location, private messages, or complete browsing history.
3. How the information is used
Mink uses the information described above only to provide and improve its disclosed trust-analysis functionality. This includes classifying comments, detecting repeated or suspicious engagement patterns, calculating the video-level risk verdict, and displaying supporting signals in the side panel.
Mink does not use this information for advertising, behavioral profiling, credit decisions, or purposes unrelated to the extension’s single purpose.
4. AI-assisted analysis and service providers
When AI-assisted analysis is available, Mink may transmit limited public comment text and related engagement signals over an encrypted HTTPS connection to the Google Gemini API solely to generate classifications used by the extension. Mink does not send TikTok passwords, authentication cookies, private messages, or your complete browsing history to the AI service.
Google may process API inputs and outputs under its applicable terms and privacy policy. Its data handling can differ depending on the Gemini API service tier. For more information, review the Gemini API Additional Terms and Google Privacy Policy.
If the AI service is unavailable, Mink may use local rule-based analysis instead.
5. Storage and retention
Mink may use chrome.storage to retain your extension preferences between browser sessions. Mink does not use Chrome storage to build a browsing profile.
TikTok comments, public profile identifiers, engagement data, and analysis results are processed for the current user-facing analysis and are not intentionally retained on developer-controlled servers. Information sent to a third-party service provider may be retained by that provider according to its applicable terms and policies.
6. Chrome permissions
- Side panel: used to display the risk verdict, comment classifications, and supporting evidence alongside the TikTok page.
- TikTok host access: used only to read the video, comments, and engagement information already loaded on the TikTok page you have open.
- Storage: used to save extension preferences.
- Content scripts or scripting, when present: used only to read the active TikTok page and communicate the required signals to Mink’s side panel.
7. Data sharing and sale
Mink does not sell or rent user data. Mink does not share user data for targeted advertising. Information is transferred only when necessary to provide the extension’s disclosed analysis, to protect the extension or its users, or when required by law.
8. Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Mink’s use of information obtained through Chrome extension permissions is limited to providing or improving its user-facing trust-analysis functionality. The information is not used or transferred for personalized advertising, unrelated profiling, or generalized market research. Humans are not permitted to read user data except with the user’s affirmative consent for support, when necessary for security or abuse investigation, when required by law, or when data has been aggregated and anonymized for internal operations.
9. Security
Mink limits page access to the permissions required for its functionality and uses encrypted HTTPS connections when transmitting information to a service provider. No method of electronic processing or transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to minimize the information handled and protect it from unauthorized access.
10. Your choices
You can stop Mink from accessing TikTok by disabling or uninstalling the extension, or by changing its site-access permissions in Chrome. You can remove locally stored preferences by removing the extension or clearing its extension data.
11. Children
Mink is not directed to children under 18 and is not intended for use by anyone under 18.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when Mink’s functionality or data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when a revised policy is published.
